Kumawood actors and actresses have been branded uneducated – Portia Asare

Kumawood actress, Portia Asare has recounted how a Nollywood actress rejected to cast a movie with her.

According to Portia, the actress told the producer that she can’t be with her on the same set because she (Portia Asare) is a local girl.

In a video shared on Instagram, Portia stated that she was pained to be called local because of the English language.

She lamented that many people believe Kumawood actors and actresses did not get formal education and that they can speak the international language.

“Kumawood actors and actresses have been branded as uncivilised and uneducated who don’t understand English. So I was casted among actresses from Nollywood and the actress told the producer that she can’t be in the same movie with me because I am a local girl and the producer told me.” She lamented.

According to her, she felt sad and pained because she can not recognise any University or Senior High School the Nollywood actress attended in Ghana.

“So I was very sad because I know that the actress in question doesn’t have any mates in Ghana. I don’t know the University or the Secondary school she attended in Ghana and because of travelling and others I was pained when she told me that I am a local girl.” Portia Asare noted.

She therefore advised parents to take good care of their children to end streetism.

The actress indicated that parents should focus on their lives and work towards their children’s welfare and stop depending on the government.

“Marriage is about time when it comes at its own time, we pray towards it. Now if I pray about marriage for my children. I have done menial jobs in my life including farming but things change when you are moving forward in life. So what I am saying is that let us prioritise our children’s welfare and not allow them to be on the street and later blame the government. The government was not there when you were giving birth.”
