Bono East: Forestry Commission bids farewell to Regional Manager

The Bono East Regional Forestry Commission has successfully organized a send-off ceremony to honor its outgoing Regional Manager, Mr. Dickson Adjei Sakyi.

The colorful event, held at the Hansua Chief’s Palace, brought together dignitaries from the Techiman Traditional Council, political parties, the clergy,  forestry stakeholders, and the media to express their gratitude for his dedicated service and to wish him well in his new role in Kumasi.

The Chairperson of the ceremony, Hansuahene Nana Apenten Fosu Gyeabour II, applauded Mr. Dickson Adjei Sakyi for his relentless efforts in regulating the use of forest and wildlife resources in the Bono East region while ensuring their conservation and management.

The Akyerepemhene of Wenchi Nchiraa, Nana Kobi Boateng Nsusumesa, commended Mr. Dickson for his selflessness and commitment, urging all workers in the forestry sector to emulate his dedication.

“We are all gathered here today to honor Mr. Dickson for his selflessness and dedication to his work. I encourage everyone to be committed to their duties and to show respect to their colleagues.

“Having previously worked with the incoming Regional Manager, I urge her to continue collaborating with us as she did during her previous tenure as Bono East Regional Manager.” He stated.

“Nana Kobi Boateng Nsusumesa seized the occasion to urge the youth to be hardworking and to desist from any activity that could tarnish their reputation and that of their community. He said, ‘Lastly, I encourage the youth to be hardworking and to refrain from idleness.

In an address, Mr. Dickson Adjei Sakyi expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their support during his tenure. He also urged the people of the Bono East Region to extend the same support to his successor to ensure the continued success of the commission in the region.

“Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. I am deeply grateful to the Techiman Traditional Council for their continuous support. I also extend my appreciation to the staff of the Bono East Regional Forestry Commission, all political parties, the clergy, and the media for their unwavering support.

“As I step aside, I plead with you all to extend the same level of support to my successor. The Forestry Commission alone cannot achieve its goals without the backing of the Traditional Council, political parties, clergy, and the media. I kindly urge you to support my successor as you supported me. By doing so, we can ensure the protection of our forest reserves and our environment.” he stated.

The ceremony was filled with both joy and nostalgia as attendees reflected on Mr. Dickson’s contributions to the region. A representative from the Techiman Timber Market Association described him as a passionate leader who treated everyone with respect, regardless of their background.

“Today is a joyful occasion for all of us. Mr. Dickson has been an exceptional leader, he is passionate about his work and treats everyone with dignity.

“The incoming Regional Manager is no stranger to us. During her previous tenure in this region, she carried out her duties diligently. We are optimistic that as she returns, she will build upon the foundation Mr. Dickson has laid. We believe that with our collective support, she will succeed,”* the representative said.

Another speaker, reflecting on Mr. Dickson’s leadership, said,”Personally, I have worked with Mr. Dickson for quite some time. He has been like a brother to all of us—an easy-going, humble, and dedicated person.

“It is our wish that he could have stayed and worked in this region for a longer time, but that is the nature of their work. We can only wish him well in his new role in Kumasi.”
