Defence Minister urges Ghanaians to reject Minority’s claims on 2025 budget

The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has called on Ghanaians to dismiss claims by the Minority in Parliament that the 2025 Budget Statement offers no hope.

According to him, the budget provides a clear and strategic roadmap for economic recovery, job creation, and energy sustainability.

His comments come in response to criticism from the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who accused the government of failing to include key economic policies, notably the much-anticipated 24-hour Economy initiative, which had been promised.

Dr. Omane Boamah described the Minority’s criticisms as baseless, misleading, and political theatrics, urging the public to focus on the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy and create opportunities for all.

“This budget presents a clear and strategic plan for economic recovery, job creation, and energy sustainability. The Minority’s theatrics are nothing but an attempt to distort the facts and mislead the public.” He stated

He explained that the budget includes critical interventions in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and social protection, which will benefit all citizens.

The Minister for Defence reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening state institutions and implementing fair taxation policies that support businesses rather than hinder their growth.

“The government remains committed to strengthening our state institutions and ensuring fair taxation policies that support businesses, not cripple them.” He said

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah stressed the need for collaboration and action rather than political distractions, urging all Ghanaians to support the implementation of the budget’s policies to help drive national development.

“This is not a time for political gimmicks; it is a time for action. The 2025 budget offers real solutions to our challenges, and we must all work together to achieve our national goals.” He said
