Ejura Paramount Chief donates GHC 100,000 to boost security efforts

The Paramount Chief of the Ejura Traditional Area, Barima Osei Hwedie II, has spearheaded a GHC 100,000 donation to support local security efforts.

The Ejura Traditional Council contributed GHC 80,000, while former Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyedumase, Hon. Mohammed Yussif Pangabu, and businessman Mr. Boakye Acquah each donated GHC 10,000, bringing the total amount to GHC 100,000.

According to Barima Osei Hwedie II, the financial support is aimed at strengthening the Security Watchdog and other security agencies to clamp down on criminal activities in the municipality.

Addressing the he stated that Ejura is becoming a violent and lawless town due to the activities of wee smokers and drug dealers and such activities have dented the image of Ejura hence the need to support watchdog committees or volunteer groups in the various electoral areas to curb the menace

“Almost two weeks ago, we met with the Security Council in Ejura, along with all the Assembly Members, to discuss the challenges facing security in our municipality. After broad consultations, we decided to support the Security Watchdog to help curb criminal activities.”

My goal is to eradicate criminal activities in Ejura and put an end to the social vices that have plagued our town. I believe that with the necessary support, the security agencies, particularly the Security Watchdog will be able to clamp down on criminals and ensure lasting peace in Ejura Sekyedumase,” Barima Osei Hwedie II said

He further explained that the funds would be distributed among the eight electoral areas in Ejura, with each receiving GHC 12,500 to aid security operations.

“There are eight Assembly Members in the municipality. The Traditional Council has pledged a total of GHC 80,000, allocating GHC 10,000 to each electoral area. Additionally, with contributions from our supporters, each area will receive an extra GHC 2,500, bringing the total to GHC 12,500 per electoral area.” He dislcosed.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the community, Assembly member for Kotokoli line electoral area, Hon. Siisu Tamimu praised the Paramount Chief’s efforts and vowed to ensure that the funds are used effectively.

“On behalf of all the Assembly Members, the Security Council, and the Security Watchdog, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Paramount Chief, Barima Osei Hwedie II, for this generous gesture. We pledge to intensify our security measures and take decisive action against those who continue to tarnish the image of Ejura.” He stated
