Sports Minister, Kofi Adams has his priority is to ensure that the Ghana’s Senior National team, Black Stars qualifies for the 2026 World Cup.
He said Black Stars qualification is important to him like the air that gives life to living things.
Speaking to the media at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, March 17, 2025, during the first training session of the Black Stars ahead of their games against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24, respectively, Kofi Adams stated that he is doing everything within his powers to ensure that Ghana secures win over the two countries.
“For the qualification I need it just like any other person needs it. Qualification is like the air that we are breathing, that is how badly I need it. That is why you see me here in the last few days if you were here. I was here on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today you have seen me here again. I want everything to be in order for these games, so I need it just as the media and every Ghanaian needs it.” The Minister stated.
He encouraged the players to be self confident and give their best on the pitch.
Kofi Adams expressed optimism that God will lead Ghana to the promised land.
“And I know the players also need it, the coach himself has told me he also needs it so we are all working towards it so let’s see how it goes and I know God will help us. I just told the players that there are no players better than them so they should know that they are good and go out there and exhibit their performances.” He added.
Meanwhile, players including Goalkeepers (Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott), Defenders (Kamaradini Mamoud, Mohammed Salisu ,Gideon Mensah, Razak Simpson) ( Kamaldeen Sulemana, Antoine Semenyo) have been trained to participate in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
