I’m not happy Ghana missed out 2025 AFCON but that is the reality of life – Kurt Okraku

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed his disappointment over Black Stars’ exclusion from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

The GFA president said he is not happy that Ghana can not participate in this year’s AFCON tournament.

Ghana failed to participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after the players’ abysmal performance leading to three (3) points in six games.

Speaking in an interview, Kurt Okraku stated that going into the World Cup is a big motivation to Ghanaians and expressed confidence that the players can give their best for the country.

“I think that Ghana is a nation that is very expectant, given the recent performance of the team but I believe that the players do acknowledge what is at stake and the Technical team for which reason they have called on Ghanaians for support. I believe that they (Players) are ready to do their best for the country. I believe going into the World Cup is a big motivation for everybody and I want to believe that they are ready to do their best for Ghana.” He said.

The GFA president added that Ghana missing out of the AFCON is a lesson to everybody and hopes that all the mistakes have been corrected.

“I want Ghana to be present at any International tournament the AFCON inclusive, I will never never be happy Ghana will not be at the AFCON but that is the reality of life. And I think that all lessons have been learnt by everybody inccluding me, I will go out there tomorrow to go and watch the tournament of the groups but obviously I love Ghana and wish the Black Stars will be there.” He added.

“I hope that the players, technical team, everybody within the space will definitely not be happy that we are not there and that should be a motivation to all of us as far as our responsibilities and duties towards our national engagement are concerned.” Kurt stated.
