Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa and his team have raided the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.
The team of about 15 heavily armed men reportedly forcefully entered the former BoG house at Roman Ridge on Wednesday, 19th March, 2025 and disabled CCTV cameras.
According to the report, the team demanded that Dr. Addison should lead them to vaults hidden in the house which he denied having it in the house.
Report suggests that National Security drivers were ordered to remove four of Dr. Addison’s vehicles. The recent operation to BoG house comes after a similar incident occurred at former Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Efutu, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has visited Dr. Ernest Addison after the raid.
“I visited the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison, whose house was raided by National Security operatives led by Richard Jakpa.” He posted.
The latest development has sparked social media reaction.
One X user said “1. Call it a raid, a visit, an invasion or whatever you choose to call it, BUT Addison is a learned person who understands his constitutional rights to prevent anyone from trespassing onto his private property without a warrant. 2. Just like the KOA instance when it later turned out there was actually a warrant for the search, those who entered the property couldn’t have done so capriciously especially when the National Security Coordinator himself is a senior police officer with many years of experience to his name. 3. The warrant will state exactly what should be searched for and recovered and who should do the search , recovery and detention of the said items. This will turn out soon to be another hoax!”
Nana Kwame stated “Jakpa and his thugs arrived at Dr Ernest Addison’s residence at 5 a.m., forced their way in, and searched every room. After three hours without finding any cash, Richard Jakpa handed his phone to Dr Addison to speak with the National Security Coordinator, who offered a so-called apology. His cars were then seized and only released after 4 p.m. This sham of a ‘reset’ must be reversed without delay.”
