The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has disclosed that the Black Stars players are fully focused on securing qualification for the FIFA World Cup and are not concerned about financial matters ahead of their crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Ghana will host Les Sao of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium at 7:00 PM before playing away against Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Addressing the media ahead of tonight’s game, Hon. Kofi Adams revealed that financial incentives are not a priority for the squad at this moment.
“Those who are following the team and asking about money, I have engaged these players individually, and none of them is thinking about money. I know why I’m saying none of them is thinking about money.” He said.
According to him, the players are due certain payments, but despite the delay, none of them have raised the issue. The Minister also urged Ghanaians to support the team wholeheartedly rather than dwelling on past controversies.
“Under normal circumstances, there are some moneys that, like by now, should have been paid to them. It hasn’t been paid, but nobody is talking about money. So it tells you that the players themselves understand the times in which we find ourselves, and so what they need is kind words from everybody and prayers.
”We should not speak about them or of them based on previous experiences. Let’s all agree that, yes, mistakes were made in the past but we have turn a new leave, let’s approach it that way.” He disclosed .
Hon. Kofi Adams expressed confidence in the team’s mental preparedness and called on the nation to rally behind them.
“I know the team that I’m working with now and I know that psychologically they are very prepared for the game. Let’s pray for them.” Kofi Adams told the media.
