Head Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has issued an apology to Ghanaians following the team’s recent poor performances but remains optimistic as Ghana prepares to face Chad tonight in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
Speaking ahead of the game against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, Addo acknowledged the team’s struggles in their recent matches, especially during the 2025 AFCON qualification, but says he is committed to learning and improvement.
“It’s a new era, a new beginning, and I’m someone who is always learning. Whether I win or lose, I’m always eager to learn and improve myself,” he stated.
He admitted that while defeats provide valuable lessons, he is equally committed to evaluating his decisions even after victories.
“I know that whenever we lose, people will ask what I have learned. You learn the most from losses, but even when I win, I always analyze what could have been done better. That’s just who I am,” he added.
“I always strive to improve myself and the team, which is especially important after defeats. We need to identify where we can do better, but as I said, it’s not just about me,” he explained.
The Black Stars coach used the occasion to apologize to Ghanaians over the team’s poor displays but remained hopeful about their upcoming match.
“I’m truly happy that we have a positive mindset, even though we played very poorly. I sincerely want to apologize for that because this is not where we are supposed to be,” he admitted.
“I’m relieved that in 2025, we finally have another match tomorrow. The wait has been long, which is one of the challenges of being a national coach when you lose, you have to wait months for another chance to prove yourself. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s match,” he concluded.
The Black Stars will be aiming for a much-needed victory against Chad tonight, as they seek to restore confidence and strengthen their chances in the World Cup qualifiers.
