Dormaahene and President of Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II has vowed to abdicate as the Paramount chief of Domaa and President as of Bono Regional House of Chief if the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II succeed to elevate to paramountcy.
During Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia on Monday, 17th March, 2025, Asantehene said he will elevate councils in the Bono Region, including Fiapre, Nkyeraa, Menye, and Atronie, to paramountcy by the end of the year.
Reacting to this, Dormaahene vowed to resist any attempt by the Monarch of the Asante kingdom to elevate Fiapre.
According to him, the power to elevate Fiapre is in hands not the Asantehene.
“What you said that this year you will elevate Fiapre to paramountcy. I dare Otumfuo, Asantehene that I, Agyemang Badu II, Dormaahene and Bono Regional House of Chiefs President, I will abdicate from the throne Bono people gave me if you succeed to elevate chief of Fiapre to a paramount chief.” Dormaahene vowed.
“I am not undermining anyone, I am not being proud that my stool is bigger but the power is in my hands. The ancestors gave me this authority, so how can you sit somewhere to do this while I am still alive? For that one, Asantehene, you can not do that.” He added.
Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II reiterated that Asantehene is a Paramount chief and no president can change the law.
“Even at that, what power do you have as Asantehene? You are a paramount chief, Nananom, I have said this before and I am saying it again today. If we are talking about the chiefs in Ghana, we say Paramount chief, Paramount means no other power is above him. I want to see any president who thinks he is powerful enough to change the law and make someone A-before the Paramount and we will see if he can rule for even one week.” He stressed.
