I think Accra Sports Stadium had a lot of potholes because NPP gov’t did sand mining to construct National Cathedral – Clemento Suarez

Ghanaian comedian and actor, Clement Ashiteye also known as Clemento Suarez has commended the government for the renovation works on the Accra Sports Stadium.

Comparing the current state of the stadium and in the previous administration, the Comedian said the pitch was bad in the NPP government.

The Comedian on his usual behaviour in cracking a joke stated that he believes the previous government did sand mining on the pitch to gather more sand for the construction of National Cathedral, the reason, the pitch was full of potholes.

“And someone mentioned the pitch, they have made it nice as compared to the previous government. Under the last administration it was not good, you have to talk about both sides. The pitch had a lot of potholes. I don’t know if the previous government did sand mining from the Accra Sport Stadium for the construction of the National Cathedral.” He jokingly said on a UTV entertainment show.

“I think they were not able to get sand for the National Cathedral construction so the pitch was full of potholes but when I went there the pitch was fine and the support was massive.” He added.

Clemento Suarez said he believes the players’ activeness during the Black Stars and Chad game was because they want to go to the US and Canada for the World Cup.

“For now the players are playing at the highest level, Kudus, Thomas Partey and they did very well and they were excited on the pitch. And I think that the supporters have realized that they are big players outside, so we love them already and so we want to see what they are doing outside here. So I think the enthusiasm has risen and the boys are eager to go to the US and Canada.”
