Illegal miners have employed militants from Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast to protect their sites – Saddick Adams alleges

Angel FM morning show host, Saddick Adams has alleged that illegal miners in Ghana especially those in the Western Region have hired militants from Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast to protect their concessions.

This, according to him, is the reason why the fight against galamsey is difficult for the military in Ghana.

Sports Obama as affectionately called indicated that he has personally seen those foreign militants guiding the galamsey sites.

“The galamsey issue has gone beyond mining, currently I can disclose that Cameroonian militants in Ghana’s forests, there are Ivorian militants. Those who go to gamalsey sites will come and confess to you, I have personally witnessed some. A lot of these people are armed and protecting the sites in our forests and not Ghanaians. Especially Western Region.” He alleged.

He said the militants have bad records because they have clashed with soldiers in Cote D’ Voire before leading to several deaths and injuries.

“There is a place in Cote D’ivoire in which they are mining, the community formed dangerous militants to protect their concessions and there was a war and these militant groups shot and killed 4 soldiers and the soldiers also killed 9 of the militants, 24 injured. When the militants clash with the military, it is bloody.” Saddick Adams stated.

“Now those dangerous militants are in Ghana. The illegal miners have hired militants from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, in the borders that is why it is difficult to stop galamsey in Western Region. These militants are people who were recruited in torrorism, they don’t understand your language, they just shoot to kill. They have been given pick ups so when they call for reinforcement from Accra the militants use the pick ups and run away to Cote D’ ivoire.” He added.
