Bawumia supports Adum fire victims with GH¢200K, 1000 bags of Cement

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GH¢200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement to support the rebuilding of the market raided by fire at Adum in Kumasi.

He said it is pathetic that the traders have worked for many years but the devastating fire has destroyed their businesses.

“I support the idea that you want to build the market yourself so that the allocation of the stores will not be a problem, we will support you and I know the government will help you, I am donating GH¢200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement to support you. I am fully behind you for you to bounce back.” The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer told the traders when he visited the scene on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

According to him, he was shocked when he saw the news of the fire burning the market.

“What happened at the market was very sad, I saw it on Television so I came here to assess the situation myself. The situation gives me sleepless nights, a lot of properties have been lost. People have worked here for over twenty one (21) years and lost everything in just one day, how are they going to survive? so I came here to commiserate with you.” Dr. Bawumia added.

He also commended the Firefighters for their massive work on that day.

“Let me commend the Ghana National Fire Service, they did a massive job, we don’t actually know what caused this fire outbreak, people say it was caused by dumsor, others also say it was caused by electrical fault. So let wait for the outcome of the investigation then we know the measures needed to put in place to prevent future occurrences.” He said.

On Friday, March 24, 2025, several traders were affected by the devastating fire at Adum, Kumasi, destroying goods worth millions of Ghana cedis.
