Update: FIC freezes financial accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye

 

Contrary to the earlier report that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has frozen bank accounts of business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye, it has been clarified that the financial accounts of the businessman were frozen by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

The companies of Nii Armah Quaye which have been affected by the decision of FIC were Bills Micro-Credit, Quick Credit and Investment Micro-Credit.

It has also been established that the personal accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, and CEO, Romeo-Richlove Kweku Seshie were also frozen.

According to reports, the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) decision was in accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020.

Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) denied freezing the accounts of the founder of Bills Micro-Credit but confirmed that Nii Armah Quaye is facing personal income tax assessment to ensure that he meets his tax compliances.

GRA says talks are ongoing for the Board Chairman of Bills Micro-Credit to pay all his tax obligations.

This comes after Mr. Richard Nii Armah Quaye, celebrated his extravagant 4oth birthday.

The lavish birthday celebration dubbed #RNAQ40 was held at the Black Star Square in Accra.

The birthday celebration brought powerful businessmen including Dr Osei Kwame Despite and Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong.

Some musicians who graced the occasion were Ghanaian rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur,  Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie, Nigerian-American singer, David Adedeji Adeleke OON, known professionally as Davido, Ghanaian Afropop, Afro-dancehall and reggae musician, Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy.

Others were, Ghanaian singer-songwriter, Dennis Nana Dwamena, known by his stage name KiDi, Tanzanian bongo flava recording artist, Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, professionally known as Diamond Platnumz, Ghanaian highlife and afrobeats singer, Gregory Bortey Newman, who goes by the stage name King Promise, Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Francisca Gawugah known by the stage name Sista Afia and others.
