40 of missing ECG containers retrieved; perpetrators to face the law – Energy Minister

“40 of the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers have been retrieved”. Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor has revealed.

According to him, the containers were found in a warehouse in Kpone, which belongs to an Indian national.

“Let me commend the Security Operative Agencies and the Law Enforcement Agencies. The information I got this morning is that already they traced about 40 of them in a particular warehouse in Kpone, which belongs to an Indian national and they have confiscated all the 40 containers and moved them to a secure location.” He made this revelation on TV3 monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net.

He said the Indian man told the Security Operative Agencies and the Law Enforcement Agencies that the containers were sold to him in 2024.

“The man (Indian) indicated that the containers were sold to him last year so that is a matter of investigation and the law enforcement agencies will ensure that the law takes its course.” The Minister said.

Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor also disclosed that the security agencies have gathered information of some other locations where some of the containers are hiding.

He warned political opponents to avoid politicization when the perpetrators started to be prosecuted.

“There are reports that they have picked intelligence in some other areas, they will trace all of them and retrieve all the containers as soon as possible and put the perpetrators before the court of competent jurisdiction. When we start prosecuting these people, let nobody come and say we are witch-hunting anybody.” He stated.

According to him, the containers are properties for the state so they will use every means to retrieve them.

“These properties are for the state so we will use every legal and legitimate way to trace them and hold anybody behind them accountable. So we will continue to work hard and ensure that we retrieve all the containers.” He assured.
