The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has suspended its nationwide strike.

The decision to suspend the ongoing strike action came after the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG held an emergency meeting on March 28, 2025.

“The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) at an emergency meeting held today 28th March, 2025, decided to suspend the ongoing strike action by the staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service.” CLOGSAG said in a statement issued by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo,

According to them, the suspension of the strike action allowed the government and CLOGSAG to continue their engagements to find an amicable solution to the matter.

“This action is to allow the parties to continue engagements towards the closure of the impasse.” Part of the statement read.

CLOGSAG has therefore directed their members to resume work on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025.

“In this regard, CLOGSAG entreats staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service to resume work on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025.” The statement added.

CLOGSAG e marked on a nationwide strike to protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.

They argued that Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, a politically exposed person as the Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry.

“The National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG met on the 11th of February, 2025 and discussed issues connected with the appointment of politically exposed persons into the Civil Service and the Local Government. The Council noted the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, a politically exposed person as the Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry.” CLOGSAG’s earlier statement declaring the nationwide strike said.

The National Executive Council (NEC) decided that should Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway assume office as Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry, CLOGSAG should declare nationwide strike.
