Ghanaian entrepreneur and businessman, Daniel McKorley also known as McDan has taken a swipe at New Patriotic Party (NPP) prominent figure, Gabby Otchere Darko over his responds to “Government policies has not helped the private sector commnet”
The founder and CEO of McDan Group of Companies speaking at Ghana CEO Presidential Gala Dinner said government policies have not helped the private sector and that if you want to do business in Ghana you must be prepared.
In response, Gabby slammed the businessman for criticizing the NPP government who supported the entrepreneur to own the largest salt concession in Africa.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM/TV monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net on Friday, March 29, 2025, McDan stated that there is nothing wrong for a businessman who has benefited from a particular government to criticize the government if its policies go wrong.
He said if he keeps mute on the wrong policies, it makes him selfish and it doesn’t help the country.
“Gabby twisted what I said….The host posted a question to me that said,” McDan, you are a big entrepreneur, you are a big businessman, has the government policies helped your businesses and I said no. I spoke and referred that in my 30 years of being an entrepreneur, government policies have never helped the private sector. That was my answer.” McDan clarified.
“I don’t know if you really listened, what I did, I talked about some Ministers who are not listening to the private sector as businessmen. So he just picked a content that I was speaking against the NPP government……So if anything at all, if a policy is not good for the private sector and NPP has helped me, should I be selfish?” He stated.
According to him, people can label him as a betrayal and ungrateful but his comment was to help the government to implement good policies that can help the masses.
“I can’t be selfish if I am talking about the right thing. You can say that I am ungrateful to the party that has helped my businesses but you need to criticise what is wrong. We have to help politicians, we have to help the government to put out the right policies. And that day when I said that Bawumia was there.” He added.
