Philip Kwabena Agyemang, popularly known as Roma Fada, 2024 vice presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has disclosed that he will contest the 2028 general election to glorify the founder of the party, the late Madam Akua Donkor.
Speaking in an interview during the funeral ceremony of Madam Akua Donkor, Roman Fada indicated that he will not sit down and watch for the legacies Akua Donkor go wasted.
According to him, he will continue the legacies of his master.
“I will not bow, we are following our mother (Akua Donkor)’s legacy so if God protects us and leads us into 2028, we will contest.” Roman Fada announced.
Commenting on President Mahama’s current administration, Roman Fada entreated Ghanaians to be patient with the NDC government.
He expressed optimism that the new appointees will succeed.
“President John Dramani Mahama just sworn in on 7th January, I don’t think he has even spent 100 days, it is like a coach playing with new players, so far the selection is okay. They (appointees) have the knowledge and experience, President Mahama has been president before so he has the experience so he knows how to appoint people and positions everybody deserves.” He said.
“They have just started so let us all support him. Government is a shared responsibility so we should not pray evil against the president and his appointees because they are not in my party.” Roman added.
He also suggested that the government should give powers to the traditional rulers to champion the fight against illegal mining activities in the country.
“Former President Nana Akufo-Addo did his best in the fight against galamsey, the current administration has introduced a new strategy to fight against galamsey but I think all of us must join the fight. Every community has a traditional ruler and police station so the government should assign them to start the fight from our local areas. So if the traditional rulers and the police are given a mandate to do that job, they will be held accountable if illegal mining activities are recorded in that community.” He suggested.
