Why is Vice President Opoku-Agyemang not seeking medical treatment in Ghana? – Ntim Fordjour slams NDC

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin South, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang decision to seek medical care abroad.

According to him, the NDC id hypocrite for accusing the NPP government’s official of abandoned hospitals in Ghana to seek medical treatment abroad.

“Wishing Auntie Naana speedy recovery and divine healing. Have @S_OkudzetoAblak, @FelixKwakyeOfo1, @SammyGyamfi_, Prof Gyampo and NDC suddenly gone quiet on their advocacy for all politicians to seek medical treatment only in Ghana?” He wrote.

“The hypocrisy of NDC politics is unmatched.” He added.

His comment comes after the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu issued a statement that the Vice President received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday due to a sudden illness and she will be seeking further care abroad.

“The Vice President, Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday due to a sudden illness that occurred after work on Friday, March 28, 2025. Based on expert medical opinion, she will be seeking further care abroad.” The statement said.

But Hon. John Ntim Fordjour questioned whether the NDC is now avoiding playing politics with the health conditions of their political opponents.

“Will they now cease spinning propaganda on the health of politicians and quit playing politics with the health conditions of their political opponents?” The MP quizzed.

During the NPP regime under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, government officials including former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta traveled to the UK, USA and other countries for medical treatment.

But the NDC who was in opposition spoke against that.

According to the NDC MP for North Tongu, and Foreign Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa public officials should stop seeking medical treatment abroad and use hospitals in Ghana.
