Bukayo Saka set for Arsenal return against Fulham

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is ready to make his return to the pitch this week, boosting the Gunners ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Fulham.

The Gunners will host Fulham at the Emirates Stadium, with Arteta’s side hoping to continue their winning form.

Saka has been sidelined since December after undergoing hamstring surgery, but the 23-year-old has recovered and is fit for Tuesday’s London derby at home to the Cottagers  Speaking to the media, Arteta expressed confidence in Saka’s readiness and hinted at his potential involvement in the match

“Bukayo is good to go! He can already start vs Fulham, yeah… it’s a possibility, and we will see that tomorrow.”

“All of the careful things he’s already done, so it’s about putting him on the grass at the right moment. He’s pushing, as Bukayo really wants it,” the Arsenal boss added.

The Arsenal manager also noted Saka’s comeback is a welcome return for the squad away from the pitch too.

“It’s more the energy that he transmits, that he’s missed the thing that he loves the most in his life, which is to be around the team, to play, to train, and to compete at the highest level.

“The fact that he’s able to come into the most important part of the season is a massive boost for him and the team as well.”

Arteta also provided an update on defensive duo Riccardo Calafori and Jurrien Timber

Calafiori suffered a knee injury during Italy’s UEFA Nations League match with Germany, while Timber missed the Netherlands’ match with Spain through illness.

According to him, Riccardo Califiori suffered a “really unfortunate” knee injury while playing for Italy. He added the injury “could have been much worse” and will be “hopefully a matter of weeks” but Arsenal will “have to see how the injury evolves”.

“Jurien was ill for a long period, quite badly. He’s felt much better in the last few days, so he’s available.”
