Manchester United manager Ruben Filipe Marques Amorim, popularly known as Ruben Amorim, has played down rumors linking midfielder Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Portuguese playmaker is rumored to be on Real Madrid’s radar following a stunning season which has seen him chip in with 16 goals and as many assists. The 30-year-old has arguably been the best signing of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, scoring 95 goals in 277 appearances since joining from Portuguese giants Sporting CP in 2020.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of today’s game against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, Ruben Amorim was quick to shut down any speculation that his skipper could be on the way out.
When asked about reports suggesting Fernandes could be on his way to Los Blancos, Amorim swiftly dismissed the claims, stating: ‘No. It’s not going to happen. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him”
He further revealed that he has said as much to the player but knows they must strive to meet the skipper’s ambitions to win the biggest prizes.
“That is the challenge, I want Bruno here because maybe in the lowest moments of our season he has impressed. We want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players to continue with us.
“He’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season. Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least. He’s the type of player we want here, he’s not going anywhere.” He stated/
Bruno Fernandes is happy at Manchester United and will remain with the Red Devils despite speculation linking him to Real Madrid.
‘We are in control of the situation, and I feel that he is really happy here,’ sometimes, the frustration that everybody sees might be perceived as a negative trait in a captain, but it actually shows how badly he wants success. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.” He said.
