The Fiaprehene in the Bono Region, Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II, has opened up on the issue between Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II vis-à-vis the elevation of his promotion to paramount chief.
Recently, Dormaahene vowed to abdicate his throne if the Asantehene succeeded in elevating Fiapre to paramountcy.
He alleged that Fiapre belongs to him and that Otumfuo can not elevate Fiaprehene while he is still alive.
But addressing his council members in a video shared on YouTube, Fiaprehene Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah indicated that the land does not belong to anybody and he has not sworn allegiance to anyone.
He explained that after their Elders established Fiapre, they submitted an application to the Bono House of Chiefs to be part of them but they refused them and the Asantehene welcomed them so Otumfuo has every right to elevate him.
“Since the ancient days, we have been independent, if he did anything for us we don’t know, what we know is that our Elders established this community. There is nothing that shows that our land belongs to anybody, the land belongs to Fiapre. And there are no documents to prove that the land belongs to anybody, and I have not sworn allegiance to anyone, so no one can tell me that if I want to become paramount, I should go and see someone for the person to take me to the palace before I can become a paramount chief. It is not right.” He said.
“It is not in any book, here is Fiapre Republic. After the Feyiase war, we settled in Bantema for many years and served Asantehene before our Elders came here so we are resolute, we are heading to where we are going. If he is going to tell the truth, we submitted an application to them (Bono House of Chiefs) but they refused and Otumfuo welcomed us.” He added.
