The Head Coach of Beseke Holy Stars, Abdulai Gazale, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall performance following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea, despite concerns about a lack of discipline in the second half.
Speaking to the media after the match, Coach Gazale revealed that he had implemented a tactical shift from his usual 4-2-3-1 formation, adopting a new strategy that emphasized floating wing-backs operating both centrally and along the flanks. According to him, the adjustment paid off early in the game.
First half goals from Prince Tweneboah, and Emmanuel Agyei were enough to secure all three points for Baseke Holy Stars.
However, the Holy Stars coach admitted things took a different turn after the break, noting that his players did not stick to his game plan.
“Today I decided to change my tactics from the usual 4-2-3-1 system with orientation of having floating wing backs in the middle at same time at our wings.
“It actually worked for me in the first half but in the second half, I don’t know what happened and the players changed their mind to play something that will not also help us because in second half, we struggled.” He stated
Despite the second-half dip in performance, Gazale emphasized the importance of the victory, especially as the team has struggled to pick up wins in recent matches.
“Generally, we have done well because we’ve struggled to win matches of late. The most important thing is to get the three points, which we secured in the first half. I think it’s working. I’m hoping that we can continue to pick points so that we move away from where we are lying.”
The win offers Beseke Holy Stars a much-needed boost in their campaign, as they aim to climb out of the lower ranks of the table, currently sitting 12th on the league standings with 30 points.
