NPP ready to reclaim power in 2028 – Haruna Mohammed

The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has revealed that the party is commitment and determination to regain power in the 2028 general elections, following the presentation of a key internal report on the party’s 2024 electoral defeat.

In an interview on Joy News’ PM Express, Haruna Mohammed disclosed that the party is not just reflecting but preparing to fight and take back power from the John Dramani Mahama led government.

His comments come following the presentation of a report by the Prof. Mike Ocquaye-led committee, which was tasked with reviewing the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections and recommending restructuring strategies.

“On the 2nd of January, we had a national council of which this ad hoc committee was set up by a national council to look at two issues. One is to look at the reasons why we lost in the 2024 general elections, and the second is to look at possible amendments and restructuring of the party.” He said.

According to him, the committee was given a three-month period to complete its mandate and presented its findings during the National Council’s meeting, a mandate he said, the committee discharged perfectly.

He further explained that the meeting was charged with energy and purpose, which demonstrated the resilience and preparedness of the party to win back power in 2028.

“We gave them three months. Today was the day for the submission of the report of Professor Mike Ocquaye. Indeed, the National Council before then had a National Executive Committee meeting to discuss and deliberate on other matters of the party and proceeded to the National Council where this report was submitted.

“Knowing the NPP from where we have come from, the members at National Council were very focused, were very determined and very sure based on the discussions that we had before the presentation of the report showed how resilient and prepared we are to fight on in 2028 to wrestle power from this very incompetent government, so the move of the people did stand with the transition and history of the new patriotic party.” He said
