“We’re not getting good value for our money” – Nii Darko

A member of Asante Kotoko’s communications team, Nii Darko, has voiced deep frustration over the club’s recent poor performances, saying the management is not getting good value for their financial investments in the team.

Speaking after the club’s recent poor performances in the league, He lamented the sharp decline in form and questioned the team’s ability to meet its season targets.

According to him, the club’s original ambitions was to win the Ghana Premier League or the FA Cup as a route to continental competition but now hang in the balance. With both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup qualifications in doubt.

“There are a lot of issues surrounding the club and we think we are not getting a good run for our money after spending so much, investing so much in the team. The target was, like you said, to win the league and also possibly to win the FA Cup. So we choose between the two. Which one are we going to use as a ticket to go to Africa? The Champions League or the Confederations Cup? but for the look of things, I can say we are gradually loosing the league.” he said.

Kotoko, who led the Ghana Premier League table for several weeks earlier in the season, now appear to be slipping out of title contention. The team’s recent struggles, especially in front of goal and in defense, have sparked concerns among fans and management alike.

“Especially after leading the league for weeks, all of a sudden we even struggle to protect a lead or to score in a game,” Darko added. “Losing to Accra Lions by three goals to nil is something we didn’t expect. We can’t even remember the last time a team scored three unanswered goals against us.”
