Gov’t announces “No Fees Stress” reimbursement policy to support first-year tertiary students

 

In order to reduce financial burden and create opportunity for eligible students, the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced a “No Fees Stress” policy to reimburse academic user fees for first-year public university students.

“In a significant step towards alleviating financial hardships faced by first-year students, the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) is set to reimburse academic user fees for first-year students pursuing accredited diploma or degree programs in public tertiary institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year, under the No-Fees-Stress policy.” The Students Loan Trust Fund said in a statement.

The policy directed by the Ministry of Education is part of measures initiated by President John Dramani Mahama to invest in Ghana’s human capital and ensure a brighter future for its youth.

SLTF said the policy will start from June, 2025.

“These reimbursements, starting next month, one in conformity with policy directives from the Ministry of Education and underline the John Dramani Mahama government’s commitment to investing in Ghana’s human capital and ensuring a brighter future for its youth.” Part of the statement read.

The Students Loan Trust Fund urged eligible first-year students to submit their application via the No-Fees-Stress application portal provided by the government.

According to them, all the applicants will be validated against admission data from associated public tertiary institutions.

“To benefit from this initiative, eligible first-year students are encouraged to submit their application via the No-Fees-Stress application portal at https://nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh. Applications will be validated against admission data from associated public tertiary institutions.” The statement said.

“We urge all first-year students to apply promptly to secure their reimbursement.”

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government commitment to improve education in the country.
