A former Assembly Member for Kenten in the Techiman South Metropolis and ex-Bamiri Branch Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Justice Salia Abdulai, has appealed to the Women’s Wing of the NDC to take the lead in promoting unity and cohesion within the party, especially in the Techiman South Constituency.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Abdulai reflected on the celebration of Mother’s Day and explained the critical role women play in shaping homes, communities, and the broader political landscape. He stressed that their influence was essential to the party’s success in the 2024 general elections and will be equally crucial in the 2028 elections.
“We are deeply grateful to our mothers and women at large for the significant roles they play in our society. We all recognize the stress and challenges women endure daily, yet, despite it all, they ensure we have peaceful homes and a harmonious society. It is no surprise, therefore, that Mother’s Day is celebrated widely across the world.” He said.
He also praised the NDC’s commitment to gender inclusion, citing President John Dramani Mahama’s historic decision to appoint Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the first female Vice Presidential candidate in Ghana’s history.
“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama holds women in high regard, which is why he appointed Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the first female Vice Presidential candidate in the history of our country. This decision reflects our party’s deep respect and value for women.” He stated
He urged the Women’s Wing to be active ambassadors of peace within the NDC by encouraging their families, communities, and fellow party members to embrace collaboration, tolerance, and collective action.
Justice Salia Abdulai further revealed that the NDC’s path to reclaiming and sustaining political power lies in maintaining internal peace and presenting a united front.
“It is now time for our women to rise and lead efforts toward unity, especially here in Techiman South. I want to use this opportunity to call on the women of the NDC to be champions of unity within the party. Engage your husbands, brothers, and fellow members, and remind them of the importance of togetherness and harmony.”
“The NDC can only maintain power and drive Ghana’s development to the heights we all desire when there is peace and unity within the party. As we continue to celebrate women around the world, I appeal to the women’s wing of the NDC to make it a priority to advocate for unity across all levels of our party.
