CEO of Shepherd Rod Foundation urges people with disabilities to embrace skills training for self-reliance

The Chief Executive Officer of Shepherd Rod Foundation, Dennis Adu Kwabena, has called on people living with disabilities to actively engage in skills training programs. He explained that acquiring knowledge and practical skills is essential for fostering independence and reducing reliance on others.

The Shepherd Rod Foundation, known for supporting widows, orphans, and brilliant but underprivileged students with educational materials and basic needs, remains committed to promoting empowerment and creating opportunities that enable people with disabilities to thrive socially and economically.

He expressed concern over the common sight of people with disabilities begging on the streets, describing it as unfortunate. He therefore urged people living with disabilities to believe in their capabilities and stop relying on others for their daily needs.

“There is a saying that disability is not inability. Many people with disabilities have acquired knowledge through education and skills training and are no longer dependent on others.

“Too often, we see people with disabilities begging on the streets, which is very unfortunate. We urge them to stop, because you are only incapable of doing something if you believe you are. However, if you believe in yourself, you will surely succeed.” He stated

Mr. Adu Kwabena encouraged people with disabilities to seek out skills training opportunities, highlighting that such efforts empower them to provide for themselves independently

“I encourage people living with disabilities to seek knowledge through skills training, as this will enable them to support themselves without relying on others. It is important to recognize that they cannot always depend on others for support.” He said.
