Assembly Member collaborates with YEA to register over 300 youth for National Apprenticeship Program in Tako Fiano

The Assembly Member for the Tako Fiano Electoral Area in the Techiman South Constituency, Hon. Francis Bekoe, has announced a collaboration with the Techiman South Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to register over 300 youth for the National Apprenticeship Program.

The initiative, which is currently underway, seeks to provide vocational and technical training for young people in the area, equipping them with practical skills that can lead to sustainable employment or entrepreneurship.

The National Apprenticeship Program, launched by President John Mahama at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, is part of a broader initiative to combat youth unemployment by offering hands-on skills training and startup support.

The program aims to address youth unemployment and promote economic growth by providing free, high-quality apprenticeship training. It equips young people with technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills through a combination of classroom instruction and practical workplace experience. Graduates receive nationally recognized certification and are offered pathways to employment or self-employment

Speaking to the media, Hon. Francis Bekoe explained the importance of creating diverse opportunities for young people, especially those who may not have access to formal education or white-collar employment.

“As we speak, I am in constant talks with the Techiman South Youth Employment Agency to help secure jobs for the youth in Tako Fiano.

“Not everyone has had the opportunity to go to school, and even among those who have, not all will get white-collar jobs. That is why I have successfully lobbied with the YEA to register over 300 youth for the National Apprenticeship Program.” He stated.

He stated that investing in skills development is a sustainable, long-term solution to unemployment and poverty.

“I believe that when these young people complete the program, they will contribute meaningfully to the development of Tako Fiano, Techiman, Bono East, and Ghana as a whole.” He said.
