Thomas Frank set to take over at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the appointment of Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach, with a verbal agreement now in place between the two parties.

Multiple sources confirmed today that Frank, who has won widespread admiration for his tactical acumen and overachievement with Brentford, is “eager to take the next step” in his managerial career. The Danish coach is now on the brink of a major career move as Spurs look to rebuild and re-establish themselves among Europe’s elite.

Although an official approach to Brentford has not yet been made, Tottenham’s technical director Johan Lange is reportedly leading negotiations. The deal is likely to hinge on Brentford’s approval and a £10 million release clause included in Frank’s current contract.

Since taking charge of Brentford in 2018, Thomas Frank has become one of the Premier League’s most respected coaches. He led the Bees to top-flight promotion in 2021 and has kept them competitive with a clear footballing identity, impressive recruitment, and tactical flexibility.

His calm leadership, player development success, and ability to punch above financial weight make him a compelling choice for Tottenham, who are seeking stability and long-term vision after recent managerial turbulence.

Should the deal go through, Thomas Frank would become Tottenham’s fourth permanent manager since 2021, following the spells of José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo, Antonio Conte, and most recently, Ange Postecoglou. Spurs’ board is believed to value Frank’s Premier League experience, his collaborative approach to squad-building, and his ability to implement a modern, attacking style.

Tottenham Hotspur sack Ange Postecoglou two weeks after winning Europa League, the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.
