Techiman South: NDC members urged to unite

A staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman South constituency, Justice Salia Abdulai, has appealed to members of the party to put aside their differences and work together in unity as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

His call follows the outcome of the 2024 parliamentary elections, where the NDC’s candidate, Christopher Beyere Baasongti, secured 43,429 votes, narrowly losing to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 46,663 votes. The margin of just 3,234 votes marked a closely fought race.

Techiman South was the only constituency in the Bono East Region that lost to the NPP, as the NDC claimed victory in the rest of the region.

In an interview with the media, he acknowledged the strong support shown by the constituency in the last election but disclosed that internal divisions cost the NDC the parliamentary seat in Techiman South.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress is well-positioned to reclaim the Parliamentary seat in Techiman South and strengthen its influence in the Bono East Region. However, he stated that this can only be achieved through reconciliation, teamwork, and unity within the party.

“We in the NDC in Techiman South voted massively for the party, and through that, President John Dramani Mahama came to power. However, we were unable to achieve our full goal—winning the parliamentary seat in the constituency.

“That said, I strongly believe that if we unite and resolve our internal differences, we stand a much better chance of reclaiming the seat in 2028. The Techiman South parliamentary seat rightfully belongs to the NDC, and with unity and a focused strategy, we can easily win it back in the next general elections.” He said.
