The most prepared president in Ghana is Mahama but the youth must look beyond Ghana for opportunities – Gabby Otchere Darko

New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart and a Lawyer, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko believes that the current president of Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama is the most prepared president the country has ever had.

He understands that Mr. Mahama has gone through all the necessary processes to reach where he is now and spending eight (8) years in opposition also gave him the chance to recount his failures and achievements.

“I think the current president is probably the most prepared president that we have had. In the sense, from assemblyman all the way to where he is now, vice president, being the president, you’ve been in opposition for 8 good years, you have seen who your real friends are, you have seen the things that you did wrong, you have seen the opportunities that you missed, the things that you can do better and you have been given another opportunity.” Gabby said this in an interview with Asaase Radio monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net.

According to him, the president is trying his best to meet the aspirations of the Ghanaian youth by fulfilling some of his promises but he must also focus on creating a conducive environment for the youth to pursue their own aspirations.

“How do you take us to the level of the youth….Because at the end of the day, the youth are unforgiving, they want jobs. They voted for you because they know that their aspirations and expectations are met by your 24-hour economy and other things. And satisfying them in this world of social media, new media, and everything that the government does is overexposed and exaggerated and the rest of things.”

“But you can not forget that you are there to meet not the aspiration of the people but to meet the space where you create opportunities for them in order to pursue their aspirations. And I hope that if the government does that and allows the youth the opportunity to pursue their aspirations, the youth must also focus on the hard work they must also put in in order to achieve that.” He added.

Gabby Otchere Darko therefore, advised the youth to look beyond Ghana to seek for opportunities in the continent.

But they (Youth) should look beyond Ghana, opportunities are on this continent. Some of us that is what we are doing.” He stated.
