The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Roey Gilad, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Ghana as the country celebrated its 68th Independence Anniversary on 6th March, 2025.
In a message filled with warmth and camaraderie, Ambassador Gilad reaffirmed Israel’s unwavering commitment to Ghana’s success, recognizing the deep historical ties that bind the two nations.
Reflecting on the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Israel, Ambassador Gilad noted that Israel’s presence in Ghana predates its independence. He stated, “The Israeli office in Ghana was opened in 1956, one year before your independence, and it was actually the first Israeli representative office in Africa.
“After a year, it became an embassy once you achieved your independence, and since then, this office, this embassy has been working day in and day out to cement and improve the bilateral relationship between Ghana and Israel in so many fields in agriculture, business, cyber, high-tech, counter-terrorism, and in so many other areas.”
H.E. Roey Gilad furthered expressed optimism about Ghana’s new government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, while pledging Israel’s support in helping the new administration overcome the many challenges facing the nation
“Israel is committed to the success of Ghana just as Ghana is committed to the success of Israel. Indeed, Ghana has just opened a new chapter with a new government, a government which is committed 24/7 to the success and to the stability and to the prosperity of Ghana and Israel, indeed, as a good friend of Ghana, will do its utmost to help this government overcome all the very many challenges that Ghana is facing for the success of Ghana is the success of Israel.” He stated.
He concluded his remarks with a passionate declaration of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
“Long live the Republic of Ghana, long live the State of Israel, and long live the relationship between the two friends.”
