Pru East MP urges youth to embrace Feed Ghana Project for jobs, food security

The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has called on Ghanaians, especially the the youth to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the newly launched Feed Ghana Project and venture into the agriculture sector.

The Feed Ghana Project, an initiative by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, was officially launched on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Techiman Methodist School Park in the Bono East Region. The project aims to boost food security, create jobs, and reduce poverty, especially in rural farming communities across the country.

H.E John Dramani Mahama speaking during the launch of the project said the initiative is a critical component of his broader Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA), which is designed to create jobs, reduce food inflation, and improve livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices.

In an interview with media after the official launch of the project, Hon. Kwaku Boam explained that the Feed Ghana Project, when fully embraced, will go a long way in combating unemployment and eradicate poverty, especially in farming communities.

The legislature also assured the public that the NDC-led government is fully committed to supporting farmers with all necessary inputs to ensure the project’s success. According to him, the Feed Ghana initiative goes beyond providing resources. He said it is a strategic move toward ensuring food security and economic empowerment.

“The Feed Ghana Project, will serve as a major source of employment for the youth and by so doing will help eradicate poverty, especially in our farming communities across the country. I will urge all and sundry who may not currently value farming to take advantage of this opportunity and venture into the agriculture sector. The NDC-led government is committed to supporting farmers with all the inputs necessary to make this project successful.” He said.

He further revealed that as part of the Feed Ghana Project, the John Dramani Mahama-led government will construct irrigation dams nationwide to provide adequate water supply for farmers, ensuring year-round farming even during the harsh harmattan season.

“Currently, many farmers rely solely on rainfall. However, once the Feed Ghana Project is fully implemented, the government will construct numerous irrigation dams across the country to ensure adequate water supply for farming, even during the dry harmattan season. This is truly a great initiative, and I encourage everyone to take full advantage of it.” He stated.
