MP for Assin South vows to ensure reinstatement of unfairly dismissed teachers

The Member of Parliament for Assin South and former Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has assured that he will closely monitor the reinstatement process of teachers who were unfairly dismissed from their positions.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rev. Fordjour commended the Minority in Parliament for their advocacy, which led to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) taking steps to address the issue.

“After a forceful collective advocacy of the Mighty Minority, the Director-General of GES has done the needful. We will monitor to ensure all teachers who were unfairly and insensitively terminated are reinstated.” He wrote.

His assurance follows a directive from the Ghana Education Service (GES) to reinstate affected teachers whose appointments were revoked.

The Legislature further disclosed that, the Minority in Parliament will continue to seek justice for all workers who have suffered similar unjust treatment.

Ntim Fordjour assured that the fight for fairness in the education sector would continue until all affected individuals are fully restored to their rightful positions.

“The fight continues unabated until all our hardworking citizens who suffered similar injustices are fully restored.” He stated.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) on last Wednesday, March 5, 3035, issued a directive requiring staff affected by the recent revocation of appointments and recruitments to validate and reinstate their recruitment by March 14.

The GES further requested all affected staff to participate in a validation exercise led by a three-member committee. This committee comprises the Regional Human Resource Officer, Regional Internal Auditor, and Regional Accountant.

This move is part of an effort to clean up the database of all recruited staff on the GES payroll.
