The Mayor of Techiman South Metropolis, Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah, has paid a working visit to three major institutions within the metropolis, the Education Directorate, Health Directorate, and the Department of Agriculture and Extension Services.
The visit is part of his ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders and better understand the needs of the Techiman South Metroplis.
During his interaction with officials at the Education Directorate, Hon. Adjei-Mensah explained the importance of education in shaping the future of the metropolis.
He disclosed that, Parents and Teachers Associations (PTAs) should be revived to help improve the standard of education, describing them as key stakeholders in supporting both students and teachers.
The Techiman South Mayor also assured teachers within the metropolis of his full support and encouraged them to discharge their duties without any fears or intimidations. He also urged them to be proud of their profession, noting that he was once a teacher himself.”
“Teachers should never feel intimidated when they are doing the right thing. Stand firm, and know that I’m fully behind you. I was once a teacher, and I’m still a teacher at heart. You have every reason to be proud of the work you do.” He stated
Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah thanked the Directorate for the warm reception and reaffirming his readiness to work with them for the good of the municipality.
At the Health Directorate, Hon. Agyei Mensah held a brief but productive meeting with health officials to understand the pressing challenges in the sector. The team outlined a number of key issues, including concerns at the Abrefi Women and Children’s Hospital and the Hansua Health Facility.
The Mayor acknowledged their concerns and pledged that he and his staff would take immediate action to resolve the challenges and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare to the people of Techiman. He expressed his gratitude to the Directorate for their warm reception.
The final leg of the Mayor’s visit took him to the Department of Agriculture and Extension Officers, where he engaged in a serious discussion about improving food production and supporting farmers in the municipality.
The officers shared their thoughts on how the Assembly could assist them in producing better quality food for the people of Techiman and the country at large. The Mayor applauded their dedication and hard work.
“You are doing an excellent job for mother Ghana, and I want to say congratulations and thank you.” He said
The department also took the opportunity to appeal for a new office space, citing that their current facility is inadequate for their operations. In response, the Mayor assured them that the request would be considered and addressed appropriately.
He ended the session with appreciation for their warm reception and promised a strong partnership going forward.
