Ada SHS dismisses 20 final year students for leaving campus to swim in river

 

Authorities of the Ada Senior High School (ADASCO) in the Greater Accra Region has dismissed 20 final year students for defied school rules.

According to reports, the 20 students left the campus without exeat to swim in a river. The conduct of the students were said to have led to the dea.th of one of the students.

It is said that the dea.th of one of the students forced the authorities of the school to take the drastic decision against the 20 students.

In a video circulating on social media saw the 20 students standing in front of their colleagues in the assembly ground.

A voice in the video reportedly to be the Headmistress of the school was heard saying the 20 students’ parents have to escort them to school for their final and wait for them everyday until they are done with their West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

“Your parents will come with you, come and wait patiently for you. When you finish they will take you back until you are done with your WASSCE papers, if your parents do not have time, that one it is between you and them, it is your business. So you are dismissed, go back .” The headmistress said.

“We have warned them several times to avoid leaving the school campus to participate in unauthorized activities outside but they refused to listen and now the results. So this decision will serve as a deterrent to the rest of the students here and other schools.” One school official reportedly stated.

Reports indicate that the deceased student has been retrieved as investigations have been commenced into the matter.

The decision follows the Minister of Education’s directive to school heads to take action against students who defied the rules and regulation.
