Africans must not be sidelined by Western traditional system – King Mswati III

His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini has admonished African Leaders to stand firm and reclaim their rightful role in shaping Africa’s future.

He said there is too much pressure and influence by the Western democratic system but Africans must not allow themselves to be sidelined.

According to him, the various institutions in Africa are facing challenges due to the Western democratic system but it is hard time Africans adopt a strategy and innovative way to define the unique identity of Africa to serve the societies.

“Today, our institutions face huge challenges, globalization and Western democratic often materialized traditional system deamination their influence. However, we must not allow ourselves to be sidelined, instead we must adopt, innovate and reclaim our rightful role in shaping Africa’s future.” King Mswati III said this at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi as part of  four-day visit in Ghana aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

“While we honor our past, we must also scrutinize our traditions in a proper way, we need to preserve those that define our unique identity and continue to serve our societies well.” He added.

The king also called for more women to be inclusive in governance. According to him, women play a vital role in nation building and for that they need to be given the necessary support and chance to show what they have.

He also highlighted some of the roles Queen Mother in Eswatini plays in nation building.

“Moreover, we must recognize the vital role women play in governance. Ghana’s Queen Mother exemplifies the strength of female leadership as does the Queen mother of Eswatini. There can be no king in Eswatini without a Queen mother because she plays a significant role in the leadership of the kingdom.” He stated.
