Popular Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has addressed speculations that he was at loggerheads with fellow artiste KiDi, saying the rumors are only “half true.”
He clarified that he loves and respects KiDi as his big brother and genuinely wishes him well in all his career endeavors.
Speaking in an interview, Kuami Eugene explained that although they were both signed to the same record label, Lynx Entertainment, they have very different personalities. That, he believes, may have contributed to the public perception of friction between them.
“Yes, what you’re saying is true. We were on the same record label—Lynx Entertainment—and as a family, it was fun because we were all coming up together,” he shared.
He continued by emphasizing that personality differences are natural, especially given that they both come from different backgrounds.
“It’s just like how people have different perceptions of others and handle themselves differently. KiDi and I are two different individuals—his character is different from mine,” he said.
Kuami Eugene admitted that during their time at Lynx, tensions sometimes rose between them, but he always did his best to stay out of conflict and keep the peace.
“I always tried to avoid trouble and stay in the middle. I stayed calm no matter the tension that came up. But I also didn’t want to be too soft, because in this industry, when you’re too soft, people take your respect for granted and may even try to bully you,” he explained.
He added, “Lynx taught me a lot. I truly appreciated the relationship I had with KiDi. Yes, sometimes tensions were high—we could go a whole year without seeing each other even though we were on the same label.”
Kuami Eugene revealed that both he and KiDi eventually moved out of Lynx and set up their own studios. After that, the only times they saw each other were during shows, sometimes even outside Ghana.
“I moved out from Lynx, rented my own place, and set up a home studio. Later, KiDi did the same. At some point, we only got to meet when we were both booked for shows abroad or when we had the chance to travel together,” he added.
