Ato Forson warns State-Owned Enterprises against excessive salaries and bloated board allowances

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has warned State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that the government will not entertain excessive salaries and bloated board allowances.

He said SOEs should take crucial responsibility of safeguarding taxpayers’ money, as they assume stewardship over a vital national asset.

“I also made it clear that the era of excessive salaries and bloated board allowances in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) will not be entertained under our administration.” Ato Forson issued this warning during a swearing-in-ceremony of the newly Board of Directors of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG).

“I assured the board of government’s firm commitment to capitalize CBG in the coming year. At the same time, I tasked them with the crucial responsibility of safeguarding taxpayers’ money, as they assume stewardship over a vital national asset.” The Minister stated.

“Still on inaugurations, I extend my warm congratulations to the newly sworn-in Board of Directors of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG). At the ceremony, I reminded the board that government spent close to GH₵30 billion to purportedly safeguard the sector, and CBG stands as a reminder of that development. ” He added.
