I Got Nothing from Writing Songs for Other Artistes – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kuami Eugene has explained that he rarely receives the recognition he deserves despite writing songs for others. He had hoped that these contributions would earn him some credit and compensation, but that has not been the case.

“Some songs I wrote with the thought of, you know what, the needful will be done later, and it was in my face afterwards. There have been numerous songs that if I mention them, you’d be like, okay, so you didn’t get a cut for this? And if I had to take all of them on, it would look like I’m the bad person,” he exclaimed.

In an interview on Hitz FM, Kuami Eugene disclosed his disappointment over situations where he expected credit but was disregarded after the songs became hits.

He further added that initially he let these incidents slide, but over time, he has confronted some artistes about the issue, mentioning Mr Drew as one of them.

He went on to express his optimism about where the music industry is headed, especially with the emergence of a new generation of artistes who he believes have a better understanding of music, professionalism, and business ethics.
