The Asokore Mampong Municipal Security Council has uncovered an illegal abortion clinic and an unlicensed drugstore in Asawase.
The two illegal facilities located near the Peleele Stream are engaging in unlawful sale of pharmaceuticals.
According to the authorities, the two are operating without any regulatory approval.
The illegal abortion clinic and an unlicensed drugstore were discovered during a special operation led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Ben Abdallah Alhassan on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The special operation targeted drug abuse and other criminal activities in the Municipality.
Addressing the media, Mr. Alhassan stated that the situation needs urgent attention because it is a serious health threat and the lives of the people are in danger.
“This needs urgent attention because it is a threat to the public.” The DCE said.
