GRATIS Foundation takes over 31 Technology Solution Centres to boost grassroots industrialization

The Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) has officially handed over 31 Technology Solution Centres (TSCs) to the Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service (GRATIS) Foundation.

The handing-over ceremony, which took place at the Elmina Technology Solution Centre, forms part of efforts to strengthen local industrial development. It marked a significant milestone in the current NDC government’s agenda to promote grassroots innovation, skills development, and enterprise empowerment.

The event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon.Sampson Ahi, the National Director of the Rural Enterprises Programme, Mr. Kwasi Attah-Antwi, development partners of GRATIS Foundation including IFAD and AfDB, the Chief Director and staff of MOTAI, the Municipal Chief Executive of KEEA, representatives from the Rural Enterprises Programme, the Board Chairman and staff of GRATIS Foundation, some heads of departments, Nananom, members of the media, and the general public.

Addressing the gathering, the C.E.O of GRATIS Foundation, Dr. Isaac Adaebsah, expressed profound gratitude to the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Rural Enterprises Programme, and the development partners of GRATIS Foundation for entrusting the foundation with the management of the centres.

He pledged to upgrade the equipment and capacity of the centres, deepen local industry engagement, and align their work with national programs such as the 24-hour economy, Rapid Industrialization for Jobs, and the National Apprenticeship Programme.

“On behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of GRATIS Foundation, I wish to express our deepest appreciation to the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Rural Enterprises Programme, and our development partners,  IFAD and AfDB for the trust and confidence reposed in GRATIS Foundation to take over the operations of the 31 Technology Solution Centres across the country.

“As GRATIS Foundation assumes full control, we are fully aware of the expectations. We are committed to sustaining and growing these centres, not just maintaining their presence, but enhancing their productivity, relevance, and impact. We will strengthen partnerships with local industries, engage youth and artisans, and ensure that each centre becomes a hub of opportunity and transformation in its respective region.” He stated.

Dr. Isaac Adaebsah further disclosed that GRATIS Foundation plans to position the centres as strategic hubs for rural industrialisation, job creation, and youth empowerment across the country. He also commended the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry for its renewed focus on local industrialization.

“Our ultimate goal is to make these centres hubs of industrial excellence in every district, directly contributing to job creation,
youth employment, and rural industrialisation.

“Honourable Minister, we are inspired by your leadership and the Ministry’s renewed focus on local industrialisation. With your continued guidance and the support of our partners, GRATIS Foundation is ready to play a central role in advancing the national industrial transformational agenda” He said.
