PRESS RELEASE:

Five Ways Examination Malpractice Can Stop in Ghana

I, Ɔpanyin Wireko (Educationist), and a concerned teacher want to condemn examination malpractice in Ghana and help WAEC take important measures to prevent examination malpractice in our country. Recently, WAEC invited some 2025 BECE candidates for interrogation due to suspected copy work during exams.

I want to suggest measures to WAEC to stop examination malpractice:

1. *PAY INVIGILATORS WELL*: WAEC should pay invigilators, supervisors, and securities well to prevent influence by candidates, parents, or school heads.

2. *USE CAMERAS IN EXAM CENTERS*: Install cameras in all exam centers for monitoring from WAEC headquarters.

3. *RECONSIDER SCHOOL GRADING*: WAEC should discuss with the education ministry and Ghana Education Service (GES) about grading senior high schools. Grading may contribute to pressure for malpractice.

4. *USE DIFFERENT EXAM CENTERS*: Schools shouldn’t write exams in their own centers; use different centers to reduce malpractice.

5. *WAEC UNIFORM FOR INVIGILATORS*: Provide uniforms for invigilators/supervisors for clear identification during exams, like Electoral Commission workers during elections.

Thanks!
