Ace Ghanaian actress Akofa Edjeani has said she has no issue with her fellow actors Kafui Danku-Pitcher and James Gardiner regarding their appointment to the Ghana Film Authority.
It was alleged that Akofa Edjeani wanted the Executive Secretary position of the National Film Authority and that she is hurt that she was snubbed after her fellow actors were appointed.
Reacting to this on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review on March 22, 2025, Akofa Edjeani clarified that the speculations are untrue.
According to her, she has the industry in heart and that whatever she can do to support her colleagues to succeed and enhance the growth of the industry, she will help.
“Like I said, I don’t have anything personal against them. Whatever we have to do to help them succeed and to promote the industry we will do it. Besides, I have other things to take care of and I am going to be busy.” She stated.
Adding that she initially submitted her CV to the president but later rescind her decision for the appointment.
“My name and others were submitted to the president but now one can tell the president what to do. And I even sent a message to the president long before he made the appointment saying I don’t want the position so what others are saying is not true.” She indicated.
Akofa Edjeani explained that she only submitted her name to the president due to the pressure from some industry players.
I sent him the message after second thought because I realized that it wasn’t something I wanted after all. I only submitted my CV due to pressure from industry players. The industry players were calling me saying we would be happy if you went there for us but later I realized that it was not something I wanted.” She explained.
