Pay instrumentalists monthly salary, SSNIT, if you don’t want them to leave the church – George Quaye replies Pastor Chris

Ice showbiz personality George Quaye has replied to the General Overseer of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris, for saying secular musicians have cheated the church for many years.

According to George Quaye, the comment by the renowned Pastor is unfortunate because the churches have also taken advantage of these musicians for long.

Speaking on Hits FM Daybreak show monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net, George Quaye suggested that the churches should put the instrumentalists on monthly payroll if they don’t want them to leave.

“I get where he may be coming from because sometimes when they call them to come and play for the church they also charge that is because the church has also taken advantage of them for too long. Gospel musicians will also travel to perform in churches and at the end of the day you give them GHS 100 or GHS 500, some are not even paid at all. What are you saying? Should they sit there and continue to starve and die? Or they should become thieves,” He said.

“Some of the churches are the richest institutions in the world. If you don’t want these instrumentalists to leave, put them on a salary structure, pay their SSNIT, give them good welfare, as some of the non-gospel musicians are giving to the people they are working with before you come up and say they have robbed the church… It is a very unfortunate comment. Some musicians should also come out and say what the churches have done for them.” George Quaye suggested.

Adding that “Every talent is of God and from God, if you speak to a lot of musicians, they will also tell you how the church has used them. People know how the churches generate revenue, Andy, we all sit here, you play advert everyday, have you ever seen Celestine Donkor’s show being sponsored by a church before? Name one, you will hear gospel musicians doing gospel concerts sponsored by condom companies, they have been sponsored by alcholic beverages, they are being sponsored by other companies, where are they Churches?”

“Even sometimes they don’t have the church space to organise their programs and are not even free. So what is our dear Pastor talking about? Talent is of God, so if I start giving my talent to the church, I am guitarist, I am playing guitar and I am growing, and the church is not paying me for the guitar I am playing, and Ashes approached me that Kwabena Kwabena is going to play a gig in Amsterdam, can you play for him? I should sit down and not go?” He stated.
