Atwima Nwabiagya South NDC Youth Organizer allegedly assaulted by Constituency Chairman and some party executives

The Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency, Mr. Maxwell Acheampong, popularly known as Maxi, has accused the Constituency Chairman, Hon. Abu Sadick, and other party executives of assaulting him during a closed-door meeting.

The 47-year-old party youth leader is currently receiving medical treatment at the Abuakwa Polyclinic, where he is reported to be in critical condition following the incident.

In an interview with the media, Mr. Acheampong recounted the harrowing experience, claiming he was physically brutalized by the Chairman and his associates after entering a meeting he was allegedly not invited to.

“The incident happened around 7:00 PM while I was on my way from Manhyia. When I arrived at the party office, I noticed that some of the executives had parked their cars in front of the building. I assumed there was a meeting I hadn’t been informed about, so I decided to join them.

“Before I entered the office, I met the Constituency Chairman, Chairman Abu Sadick. He asked me why I was there, and I explained that I saw the gathering and assumed there was a meeting, so I wanted to join.

“That’s when he told me I didn’t belong to their camp and suddenly punched me in the chest, followed by a slap. I tried to understand what was going on, but before I could react, the other executives at the meeting came out and started verbally assaulting me. The Communications Officer also slapped me.” He said.

Mr. Maxwell Acheampong also revealed that his motorbike was vandalized, and he lost personal items including money and mobile phones during the unfortunate incident.

“At the time of the attack, I had between GH₵3,000 and GH₵4,000 on me. I lost consciousness during the assault and only regained it later at the hospital. When I checked, my money was gone. I tried calling my phone, but it’s been switched off ever since. I also sent someone to check on my motorbike, only to be told it had been damaged.” He stated.

Mr. Acheampong is therefore calling on security agencies, as well as the NDC’s regional and national leadership, to urgently intervene and launch a thorough investigation into the incident.

He explained that the assault not only threatens his personal safety but also undermines the integrity and unity of the NDC within the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency.

“As the Youth Organizer, I am a frontliner for the party. If some constituency executives can do this to me, then what about an ordinary member who has just joined the party?

“The actions of these executives are a disgrace to the NDC. I am appealing to the regional and national leadership of the party to intervene, investigate the matter thoroughly, and hold those responsible accountable.” He told our reporter

Adding to the distress, Mr. Acheampong’s mother, Maame Afua, has also appealed to authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
