A celebrity title is huge Ghana has less than 20 celebrities; Kwaku Manu is excluded – Nana Romeo

 

Media personality Abdul Karim Tanko popularly known as Nana Romeo has clarified who celebrities are.

According to him, there are many popular persons in Ghana but less than twenty of them can be called a celebrity.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net, Nana Romeo stated that people merge popularity with celebrity which is wrong.

He explained that a celebrity is someone who has achieved a lot and has changed many lives. Citing business man Dr. Osei Kwame Despite.

“Anybody can be a star but celebrity is different. I don’t think we can get 20 celebrities in Ghana, it is a huge thing. A celebrity is not only a popular person, a celebrity is someone whose life is wealthy to be imitated and has changed many lives. A true celebrity in Ghana is Dr. Osei Kwame Despite. He has been in the entertainment industry for a long, look at the number of businesses he has opened, a celebrity is someone who can be celebrated.” He said.

He categorically stated that someone like Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu is popular but he is not a celebrity.

According to him, Sarkodie, Lilwin, Shatta Wale and other few people can be called celebrities based on their achievements and the impact they have made in the industry and Ghana as a whole.

“If Nana Romeo, I tell you that I am a celebrity, what will you use to celebrate me? You can’t use Radio only to celebrate me. But someone like Dr. Osei Kwame Despite can be celebrated because of his achievement. Sarkodie can be celebrated based on how he has sold Ghana as one of the popular rappers in Africa, Shatta Wale, Kwadwo Nkansa Lilwin too is a celebrity but what are you going to celebrate Kwaku Manu with? The celebrity title is high.” Nana Romeo indicated.
