A speeding vehicle struck Immigration officer to death after assisting stranded driver in Accra

 

A Ghana Immigration Service officer, identified as AICO II Japhet Boateng Kyei, has died after being struck by a speeding vehicle near the Accra Arts Centre on the night of Saturday, July 19, 2025.

According to the report, the officer had parked his vehicle and crossed the road to assist a stranded driver whose car had broken down. After successfully offering help, he was hit by a Hyundai Veloster with registration number DV 9050Y-25 while attempting to cross back to his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Kyei was identified by a police officer on duty through the official Ghana Immigration Service pullover he was wearing at the time. His body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue, and investigations are ongoing.” Edhub reported on X.
