About 1,100 individuals sacked from security services – Muntaka announces

 

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has announced that about 1,100 people have been removed from Ghana’s security services over irregularities in recruitment processes.

According to Muntaka who serves as Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency, a special committee was set up to review recruitment processes conducted before and after the December 2024 general election and they discovered that about 1,100 individuals did not meet basic requirements.

He said a total of 5,200 individuals were recruited in major security agencies.

Muntaka indicated that 320 personnel were removed from the Ghana Police Service, 730 personnel removed from Ghana Immigration Service and 50 personnel removed from the Narcotics Control Commission.

He made this announcement during the maiden edition of the Government Accountability Series in Accra.

Muntaka revealed that the affected persons failed all subjects in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) which is part of the requirements.

He stressed that the security agencies need people from all professions but they should follow due process to protect the integrity of the state security agencies.
